What happened way back then?

Although it's not quite my birthday month yet (although I'm sure most of you are reading this in Feb.) I had to get my third post in for the month to keep with my resolutions (see last post). So I thought I'd try to learn something about the year I was born. Then thought it be interesting for everyone to learn something about the year they were born if they didn't already know so here's a little help. Here's mine for 1979. Make sure to post your too. Click the link at the bottom to find out what happened your birth year.

Charles, the Prince of Wales, was born 22 days after me in 1948. Somehow that links me to royalty. 1948 is considered the birth year of commercial television. In 1947 there were only 44,000 television sets in the U.S. Today there are over 250 million.

A few of the most interesting things from 1982:
CNN is launched, Time Magazine's Man of the Year was for the first time given to a non-human...a computer, the first computer virus escapes into the wild, E.T. is the top grossing film, and (the wierdest tidbit) Ozzy Osbourne bites the head off of a live bat thrown at him during a performance, later hospitalized with rabies!

Stardate: 1974. Nixon resigns days before Topher arrives on the scene. Other legends include DiCaprio and Seacrest (out!).

Interesting, Tom, that you share a birthyear with another Wyoming cowboy, Heath "Diva" Ledger. Does he hunt muscrats in his socks, too?

Elton John and David Letterman were also born in 1947. The Diary of Anne Frank was first published. The CIA was established. Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier by joining the Brookyn Dodgers. And it was the centennial year of the Mormon Pioneers entering the S.L. Valley.

My birthday this year will be on 7-7-07. Pretty neat.

Only the wisest of hunters know that trick, Topher, so I doubt Heath would hunt in his socks. Hey and as far as I see things you did admit to Ryan Seacrest and Leo Dicaprio being born the same year as you...enough said I think. haha
